WELLSPRING VILLAS
THE BRIEF
The ‘Wellspring Villa Complex’, is proposed in a hot and arid climate. The design ideology revolves around implementing different passive climatic control strategies. Finer details like Jali windows, large sunshades, and thick walls with small openings, are incorporated in the design to maintain a comfortable temperature within.
DESIGN
The overall site planning of villas was conceptualized like a village, with low-level compound walls and gardens that open out to the streets, whilst maintaining privacy. The strong order and harmony of the homogenous elevation, sets a design character of the villa. Lime plaster is used for its exteriors to aid with thermal insulation. The colour palette is inspired by the rich architecture of Rajasthan, throwing light on its heritage. The landscaping is planned in a way to manage the microclimate on site.
